real life VS The Crucible
In the play Thomas Putnam was the son of the richest man in the village. He was a very cocky man and was always arguing about land. Giles Corey was told by an honest man that Thomas Putnam was making her daughter cling to her accusations so that he could seek revenge and win over the land in the village. He was already very wealthy but was overpowered with greed and deception.
Thomas Putnam's real life was not very different from the play at all. The accusations placed on him in the play about land were proven to be true. Putnam put his daughter up to this basically for land. He did not care about the people who were sentenced to hang because he was said to be a very selfish man. Also, his entire family was said to be greedy and selfish and that is how they came about their wealth. |
