real life VS the crucible
In The Crucible, Reverend Parris was a selfish and controlling man. He wanted the church in the community to be run exactly the way he said for it to be run. His wife was said to be dead and his only child was Betty Parris. Parris was the man in the story who walked into the girls in the woods. He kept his findings to himself until he woke up the next morning and found that his daughter Betty was inert. Reverend Parris contacted John Hale, who was an expert in witchcraft, to come and examine his daughter. Reverend began to believe that his niece Abigail had something to do with it but when he had asked her she of course put the blame on the slave Tituba. Parris whipped his slave until she confessed and started to blame all of the easy targets around Salem. Towards the end of the play Parris began to believe that his niece was lying because she stole his money, got on a ship, and left during the trial.
